Tramquil retreat in Suisse Normande

Le Gaudin is a treasure of French farmhouse accommodation.

A tranquil retreat, set among the hills and valleys of the Suisse Normande, yet within easy reach of the Channel, the main Normandy attractions, and just an hour away from Paris.

Set in its own breathtaking woodlands, Le Gaudin oozes style and sublime levels of comfort. Plus exquisite cuisine using local seafood, meat and fowl.

An opportunity to restore your spirits, soak up the Normandy culture or get closer to nature; perhaps fishing, canoeing, mountain biking or hiking? Your choice, your delight.

We can also offer a completely self-contained Gite - self catering, or join the main house guests for fine French cuisine.

The gardens at Le Gaudin

Le Gaudin is set amongst  the rolling hills of Swiss Normande sitting in a Heritage Area of forests and fields. The history  of Le Gaudin is still being uncovered but parts of the house date back to the 16th century, The lake in the grounds was hand made and is thought to have been made by the monks from the Abbey now in ruins in the ground. The Pilgrims path runs at the back of the property and the grand gateway still stands amongst the ruins of the boundary walls. The owner of Le Gaudin in the year 1754 a wealthy horse owner is believed to have been shot in a dual with the Marquee of the Chateau a couple of kilometres up the road.

Le Gaudin is an ongoing project for Clive and Denise and, as visitors come back year after year, it is always an interesting topic of conversation as to what is on the job list for 2008.
